FOUNDER | HEAD COACH DISC GOLF STRONG
We needed a movement in our sport. A culture shift towards treating our bodies like athletes by preparing them through athletic development and performance training.
According to a University of Arizona study, the injury-rate in our sport is around 81%. That number is shocking and must be reduced for both the health of our players and the sport.
I started Disc Golf Strong in 2015 with the mission of helping disc golf athetes of all skill levels, ages, and abilities play strong, healthy, injury-resistant, and resilient disc golf, so they could play as much as they want, and for as long as they want.
Since then, I have worked with over 30 touring pros and countless rec players on what they need to do to stay strong, healthy, and perform at the level they know they can.
"Training with the Disc Golf Strong's Inner Circle app has allowed me to improve my strength and joint stability during the off season, all while traveling and caring for my daughter. The app is so easy to use, I can do the pre- loaded workouts nearly anytime, anywhere, with no gym membership and minimal equipment."

"Working with Disc Golf Strong for the last few years has been an essential part of my disc golf game. I've integrated his program into every aspect; from warmup, in-season & off-season training, to proper breathing and mental game. His program has helped me increase mobility and strength, heal from overuse injuries, and ensure my muscles are balanced and properly activated while throwing to prevent future injury. His app makes it easy to train anywhere and his videos are great at explaining each exercise. I highly recommend getting Disc Golf Strong."
Q: Are these programs accessible for disc golfers new to athletic performance training?
A: Absolutely! Our training philosophy is that everyone should start with building a strong movement foundation first. Just like we recommend new disc golfers start learning how to throw with putters and mid-ranges first, as that will give them greater long-term success, our programs are structured in a similar fashion. This makes them very accessible for everyone.
Q: Do I need a gym membership or special equipment?
A: No gym membership needed! While having access to a gym can be beneficial for some, it is not necessary. We work year-round with touring pros that have to train outside or in a hotel room. This means many of our programs can be completed with just bodyweight and a single resistance band. There are a few exercises in training plans that would benefit from using dumbbells or kettlebells, but you can easily get by with just a resistance band.
Q: I am currently experiencing pain or injury, can I still join?
A: You sure can! Through, we highly recommend you be evaluated by a medical professional before beginning an exercise program. With over 400 exercises in our video library, you have many options available to train in a way that improves your strength without risking greater injury/pain. You can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss further to see if this is the right program for you.
Q: I am very limited on time, can I still do this program?
A: Most definitely. We have training plans that are very accessible for time-crunched disc golfers. We even have a training plan called, "The Busy Disc Golf Athletes 6-Week Training Program!" You can also adjust the number of days of any training plan to best fit your schedule.
Q: Will I be able to connect with the Disc Golf Strong coaches if I have questions?
A: Yes! Our private FB group for Inner Circle members is a great place to learn, connect with other members, ask questions, and interact with Seth and the Disc Golf Strong coaching staff. Seth also travels to 10+ National Tour and DGPT Events every year. He will be hosting meetups at each tournament for Inner Circle members to connect, ask questions, and have a great time as well! There might even be few Disc Golf Strong Pro Athletes that join in the festivities as well!
Q: It's only $10 a month?!
A: That's right! Our mission is to help as many disc golf athletes reach their athletic potential as possible by improving the strength, mobility, power, and resilience of the body. Our desire is to make this as affordable as possible. Personal training sessions in a gym range between $40-$200+ PER HOUR! Even generic training programs that are not designed specifically for the disc golf athlete can run anywhere from $20-$100+ per month, and that's only for the exercise program! They don't include even 1/4th of what you get as a member of the Disc Golf Strong Inner Circle.
Q: This is my first time learning about Disc Golf Strong. How did you come about and why should I listen to you?
A: Great question! Seth Munsey started developing the foundations and training philosphy for Disc Golf Strong in early 2015, and officially launched his first social media accounts in the beginning of 2016. As both an Athletic Performance Coach and avid disc golfer, Seth noticed that so many of his fellow golfers were suffering from pain and injuries due to injuries from the sport.
Q: Is nutrition coaching included?
A: We provide nutritional recommendations that are important for disc golf athletes. Immediately after signing up, you will receive an email that includes a link to download our Disc Golf Sports Nutrition guide. We do not write specific meal plans. Over many years of working in the health and fitness industry, our experience (and by reading through the available research) we know that trying to follow a strict diet or meal plan does not work for almost everyone. . There are a few exceptions, but they are outliers. We give general recommendations on important nutrients, but our main focus is on teaching how to develop healthy habits and understanding sound nutritional principles. Doing so leads to greater long-term success.
Seth has a B.S. in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) with an emphasis on Strength and Conditioning. During his senior year of college, he was hired by the Anaheim Ducks NHL Team as the Strength Coach Intern. Working directly with the team and coaching the players in the gym helped shape Seth's training philosophy on the most effective ways to train elite rotational power athletes. In early 2017, Seth closed the 3,200 sq ft training facility he had owned for 4 years and began focusing on Disc Golf Strong full-time. He has been traveling the last 2 years to many National Tour and DGPT events to work directly with the athletes to keep them healthy and on the course.
During the 2018/19 offseason, Seth coached close to 30 professional Dsc Golf athletes to prepare them for the upcoming season. This was a huge jump from the first DGS offseason program in 2017/18 that had 8 pro athletes.
In addition to Disc Golf Strong, Seth is a Master/Lead Instructor for two fitness organizations and teaches/certifies fellow fitness professionals in those respective movement systems.
Before Seth entered the fitness industry in 2007, Seth spent 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard at a search and rescue station, followed by a few years running 911 calls on an ambulance and as a reserve fire fighter.
He is extremely excited to share everything he's learned over the last 20 years in both fitness and as an emergency first responder to help you play strong, healthy, injury-resistant, and resilient disc golf. To help you play Disc Golf Strong.
